Ok, so I have decided to put my latest uni work on here for you all to see. I had to take photos of my work to document it anyway so I thought I would also document it here.
Basically, my idea covers exploring 1950's nostalgia and the immaculate, glamourous presentation of women. How did they always look so good?! So that was my starting point and after a shakey start and then a really helpful tutorial I was well on my way to creating some work. So, I have been exploring screen printing and collage making. The collages are inspired by the work of John Stezaker. His collages, like mine are very orderly and precise in their presentation so I felt that it fit my idea perfectly.
And on that note, here they are...
This screen print was created using screen filler, it is a liquid that when dry will block the ink from comming through the screen and forces the ink through the uncovered areas, and this is the result...
The collages were created using found images of glamourous women of the 1950's, coupled with advertising and general stereotypical housewife images and the odd touch of glamour photography...
Following these I am considering different methods of screen printing and ways in which to display the images as pristene, immaculate images and also experimenting with scale.
